Odyssey 1 University Place
We celebrated my daughter’s 9th birthday this past weekend. I took her and her girlfriend to Odyssey 1 in University Place, WA. It was less than a favorable experience. A couple of the video games stole our tokens including Ms. Pac-Man which I was really looking forward to playing. The laser tag game was okaside from the fact that one of the vests kept malfunctioning. It’s typical with places like this though. A kids place ran by teenagers, no one really cares about the upkeep for the most part. The prizes that were given for the tickets earned by the tokens spent were ridiculous. I think we got an eraser and 5 tootsie rolls for 20 bucks! I will not be frequenting this establishment again any time soon. Nor will I go to Chuck E. Cheese. There needs to be a cool place for kids that is kept in good shape and ran by responsible adults or teens but responsible ones, not delinquents. Nevertheless, the kids knew no better and had a great time so it wasn’t a total loss, but from a grown-ups perspective I’d say it’s just more proof that University Place is becoming Tacoma more and more every day, it’s time to run to the Harbor I’m heading across the bridge, see you all later!

Lasertag is the only decent reason to go to Oddysey I, V, or XXV. It’s a dangerous place; I’ve seen kids fall down and get hurt, I won’t eat the food (I can make pop tarts at home thanks) and you are right, the toys are expensive and probably have Chinese dyes in the coloring. Go for Laser tag once in a while, ignore the rest of the place. It’s hard to find a good place to take kids for birthday parties anymore. I think when the skating rink on South Tacoma Way closed years ago, the world went to pot.
