WASHINGTON - Two USA studies printed within the Archives of Internal medicine have showed that radiation from CT scanners will cause cancer decades later once patients are exposed.
CT scans hits you with masses of X-rays in a very defined way that allows doctors to determine a three-dimensional image of a targeted organ or tissue.

The first study, undertaken in four San Francisco hospitals, found that “even the median doses (of radiation) are 4 times higher than they’re supposed to be, according to the currently quoted radiation dose for ct scans.”
Just one CT coronary angiogram on average submits the patient to the equivalent of 309 chest X-rays.
This study established that 1 out of 270 who underwent a CT scan of coronary arteries would develop cancer as a result of the test.

A second look meanwhile found that the seventy-two million CT scan images done within the USA in 2007 would cause twenty-nine thousand supplementary cancers. The data excludes people who already had a tumor or had the scan as half of end of life treatment.
Cancers caused by the radiation seem to show 20-30 years after they first had the procedure, it found. “At a fifty-percent mortality rate (the scans) will cause approximately 15,000 deaths annually,” the research said.
