Nice Place To Get Glasses If You Can’t See Straight
I have been wearing glasses for reading and computer usage for several years. I can’t recall how long; I don’t have my glasses on.
Several weeks ago I noticed that my head hurt and my eyes got all boogeley woogeley whenever I put my glasses on and tried to read something or look at a computer. I figured I needed to get new glasses so I made an appointment at an eyecare establishment in University Place called something like Suburban Opticians (even though they aren’t in the suburbs anymore). My wife railed against me (not in the barfing manner) and said, “Nooooooooo! They are way too expensive. They charge $400 for glasses alone! Go to Vista Optical!”
After she stopped railing against me, I made an appointment at a place called The Optical Shoppe, which is a Vista Optical retailer in a Fred Meyer store on the corner of River Road and Meridian in Puyallup Warshington.
My visit to The Optical Shoppe was very nice. Dr. Nelson examined my eyes; he was very thorough and friendly. I could tell during the exam he did not need any breath mints or anything like that. He was very nice to chat with but did not take too much of my time.
Kristi was my eyeglass steward; she was a very nice, smartly dressed lady. She helped me pick out a neat pair of titanium frames to go with my new progressive (no similarity to liberalism) lenses.
Titanium frames are pretty neat. You can bend them all around your neck or whatever and yet they don’t break or become damaged. They are very lightweight too. Your head doesn’t feel pinched when you wear them.
The nice thing is the price. Based on my comparisons, I paid about half of what the total bill would have been if I had gone to a smaller, independent place.
I recommend Vista Optical. Nice place and good prices.

John,
I’m glad you found a good deal, I recently had to renew my prescription as well. My dad and I went to Costco and he paid about 200 bucks for his continually progressing eye situation, he also got transition lenses with the bendy titanium kind of frames you’re talking about too. I just got some readers, someday I’ll probably need cool glasses like you guys!

I got my new glasses this past weekend. I like playing with the bendable frames. I discovered it takes time to adjust to a new eye prescription. I put the new glasses on and walked around in the Fred Meyer, trying to find things. I kept bumping into people and almost walked into the vitamins in the health section. I looked at the free ads on the bulletin board and couldn’t figure out why someone would be giving away free dashboard puppies (or what they were). Once I got zoomed in properly I realized it said dachshund puppies.
