A beautiful evening at the waterfront in Tacoma, last night, was marred by the sight of a silent protestor’s 12 signs set up along the route from The Ram to Shenanigan’s. Along the beautiful, green, tree-lined boulevard just off  the water, sat an old leftist-hippie with signs protesting the Iraq war and one sign that read, “IRAN, let’s talk”.  Everyone has a right to their idiotic opinion. This is America. We stand behind the Constitution and our red-blooded, testosterone-fueled, Democratic President.

Traffic on Bridgeport Way slowed down considerably this week right in front of the construction site for the University Place Town Center. This structure is set to be completed in 2010, 2011, 2012, sometime down the line. Traffic will be a problem from that point onward along Bridgeport Way as cars turn in an out of those side streets. This is progress.

Stopped in at Jo’s Barber Shop last week. This local business has operated in U.P for many years. I asked why a poster for City Council candidate Eric Choiniere was hanging on the wall. I was told that he was the first and only member or candidate for the University Place City Council to ever visit the shop. Just as the citizens support local business, so should the council members. This is the tax base for the City of University Place. This is where we should keep spending our dollars, University Place, not Seattle, Bellevue or Tacoma.
