This might be wishful thinking, but I think Seattle’s KIXI AM may be the new popular oldies station in town before too long.

After the horrid, stupid and just plain dumb transition of Seattle oldies station KBSG to FM talk format, I sent a message to the staff at KIXI (I am a member of the KIXI Kool Kats Club after all). I generally mused about how I like their station (I really do) and I mentioned that I was impressed that KIXI for the most part, has not changed format for a long time. I also mentioned that it was my hope that KIXI would play more “oldies” stuff like KBSG did.

Granted, I don’t expect KIXI to play Jimi Hendrix anytime soon, but they ARE changing. In the last couple of months, along with the usual Bobby Darin and Dean Martin stuff,  I’ve heard artists such as… Ok, I lost my list. My bad. But if my memory is correct they’ve been playing Bread (Baby I’m A Want You); Carly Simon and I think I even heard Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

Hey, it’s a step in the right direction.
