How’d The Indians Figure It Out?
So, it came to me today while we were buying fireworks at Fire Cracker Alley the Indian Reservation on Portland Avenue in Tacoma. We came in and took over the Indian’s land, we learned from their ways and adopted some of them as our own traditions, such as Thanksgiving. We raped their women and stole their land, we tricked them. What did they do? They fought back a bit but eventually realized this was a war they couldn’t win. They conceded and lived next to us on lands that we “set aside for them” called “reservations.” These are places where our “white-man” laws do not apply. The Indians have their own Tribal Police, their own court system, hospitals, churches, etc.
The Indians have capitalized on this land that is rightfully theirs, they have sold otherwise illegal fireworks to the white man, they hold pow wows and sell Indian wares there, the white man is welcome to come and purchase these wares. They recently have built casinos on this land thus taking us whites for millions if not thousands of millions of dollars. They also sell cigarettes at no-tax prices. To the Indians, I take my hat off. As a people you have outsmarted the white man. You have taken what little we gave you, and made the very best of it! Kudos to you.
This brings me to a question…why did the black man not figure out a way of capitalization? Instead they cry and whine about being oppressed for 480 years which by the way we only enslaved them for about 215 years. Not that that isn’t substantial enough but let’s state the facts here. Most of the true slavery ended about 50 years after it originally started. Regardless of the time frame, my question is this. Why can’t the blacks learn to prosper? We’ve allowed them to take over so many areas, territory, land if you will, but it seems that no matter where they congregate, all that occurs is complete turmoil. For example, I give you The Bronx New York, Chicago Illinois, Gary Indiana, Tacoma Washington, South Central LA California, Compton California just to name a few. Do you see big things happening in these places?
Let’s take a look at the places where the “white man” hasn’t interfered. How’s Nigeria doing? Any great things happening over there? How about Ethiopia, is there a utopia of wealth and intelligence over there? What about Africa? Did you know that it is ranked as the 10th out of 60 rated countries for crime per capita and at the top for rape and murder? Did you further realize that 79.6 of the population over there is black? Wow! What a coincidence. It is still considered a developing country. Developing into what? So tell me, why is it that we brought some of their biggest and strongest over here to this now considered highly “developed” country and they still can’t figure it out? Some may call me a racist but I am looking at Goolge today to find this info, going off none of my own knowledge.
So far, the African Americans have proven to me that they are good at a couple of things, rap music (Dr. Dre), dancing routines (Michael Jackson), stand up comedy (Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy), black comedy movies (Friday, Next Friday, Friday After Next), and becoming president out of majority vote (Barak Obama). Considering the majority of our population is something other than what started this country, Indian or White. Oh yeah, they’re also good at creating holidays for themselves, Martin Luther King Day, Emancipation Day (also known as Juneteenth), and Kwanza just to name a few. Is there a “Happy White Man Day?” Oh that’s right that would be racist, or unconstitutional, I’m sure we have ammended our great constitution to appease the masses that are no longer white.
I think that everyone in America should be allowed to be here, provided they make an effort to give to our society like I do and my family does, and our ancestors have. If not, then why are they here? Oh that’s right so the liberals will have something to fight for to justify their cause and reason for being.

The Indians figured out how to work “within the laws” to better their situation. It’s not perfect, not all Indians prosper from the casinos, gambling and fireworks sales, but you have to admire what the Indians have done to turn things around.
It’s not rape of the white man when the white man buys the thousands of dollars in fireworks for the enjoyment of his kids. That is a consesual act.
K Street, in Tacoma, had a working business district, complete with a bank and large pharmacy, restaurants etc, back in the 60s. The neighborhood started going “down hill” in the mid to late 60s. There was an increase in crime in the area and vandalism of the businesses. The business moved away. The neighborhood is now a largely black population and since the businesses moved away, most buildings remain boarded up and vacant.
The swimming pool in the Hilltop’s Peoples Center was closed several years ago due to neglect and lack of city funds to upgrade the facility.
What money the city of Tacoma can budget to make repairs is not enough to also fund the superstructure covering the pool. Hilltop neighborhood residents aren’t satisfied with City of Tacoma plans and want a “state of the art” facility, including, some ask, a hot tub, several types of slides and pipes that shoot water like those found at spray grounds.
A steering committee of local residents and Metro Parks staff may be formed within the next twelve months. The monumental task of the committee would be to identify potential funding sources for renovating the pool.
Maybe some of the businesses along K Street, I mean, Martin Luther King Blvd. could be asked to contribute a healthy chunk of change to the renovation fund.
Instead of being given City of Tacoma funding for all upgrades to poor neighborhoods, perhaps the resident population can pick themselves up by their bootstrings, use the educational opportunities given them, make connections, work within the laws and build their communities to be what they would like them to be.
It is way past time to realize, the hand-outs have got to stop.

Ditto.. The Indians (or native Americans as my politically correct friends say) figured out how to work a system that was bent against them from the start. I hate illegal fireworks and I’m not a big fan of casinos either, but they have a right to make a living and they took that “bent” and turned to their advantage. Native Americans/Indians/whatever and many Asian peoples have figured out how to turn capitalism to their advantage in this country. There’s lots of other people, however, who as Duke pointed out, just want a handout. I’m not pointing a racial finger here either. Many of my neighbors are white, lazy trash either partially or totally dependent on welfare. White trash really fits the description.
I don’t agree with some of what Stephanie writes, but I totally agree with the idea that the white people are labeled the oppressors while at the same time doing all the work, if I understand her point right. It’s not politically correct to say Indian anymore. It’s not ok to say black anymore. In Canada the native people are supposed to be called “First Peoples” now. But what about me, ol’ white boy? People in my neighborhood call me white cracker. How come no one is standing up in unison and demanding that “white” is not politically correct? I’m going to have a t-shirt made that says “I’m not white and I’m not a cracker, homie!”

Don’t be ashamed of being “white American”. You are among many others who are discriminated against due to quotas, pre-conceived notions, political correctness and past indiscretions of our people. “Are you my Caucasion? Yeah, Brother, you’re my Caucasion!! [our N-word] We shall overcome!!”
