Not Enabling The “Disabled”
It irks me to see the people who waddle up to the grocery store and plop them selves down in one of those motorized scooters. This person has just walked from the handicap parking space, into the store, without the assistance of a wheelchair, nurse or walker. Now, mobile, though at a very slow speed, this person has become a speed bump in the aisles of the grocery store. They are something you have to manuever your shopping cart around. They are now “special”.
They have been given the opportunity, through the use of this “crutch” to get yet one more hand-out or perk due to their supposed disability. They had no difficulty walking into the store, but they have now been “enabled” by some government program or a law borne out of some lawsuit, to burden everyone around them by being slow and getting in the way of store traffic.
Worse yet, they want YOU to assist them with their task of grocery shopping. Time and time again, I have seen them ask other store customers to reach an upper shelf to get an item. More often than not, this item is a fattening food, even candy, in which case they are further compounding their health/weight issues.
Case in point, on a recent trip to Wal-Mart, there were two Scooter cruisers in the pastries aisle. They were parked there. They were waiting. I hurried through the aisle to get away, before being asked to assist them. I will not enable these people.
“Hey, Baby Huey, drive away from the Twinkies, do not touch the Ho-Hos, hands off the Little Debbies cakes.” It wouldn’t hurt the majority of these people to be told, exercise or die. Because die they will, due to their insistence on playing up their “disability”. America coddles these whiners too damn much. This is just another medical issue driving up healthcare costs.
