My Weight Loss Challenge
So it’s been about 2 weeks now since I started on my path to thinness. I have tried a number of things. I have gone to the gym alone a couple of times and with a family memeber a few times. I purchased and played Dance Dance Revolution Ultimate Party (or whatever the new one is called). I broke my leg trying to rollerblade with my dog for exercise, and now I walk around my home and office everyday on crutches and lift ankle weights a couple times a week at night. To date, I have lost 9 pounds. The main change I have made is to double my water intake daily to about 3 bottles a day as opposed to maybe one that I used to drink before, if i was lucky. I have also changed what I eat. I signed up for Weight Watchers online. It’s $16.95 a month and $29.95 joining fee.
I don’t eat breakfast cause I am just not much of a morning person. I can’t seem to motivate so early very well. I drink about 3 cups or maybe 4 of coffe before noon at which point I usually go out to lunch with Steve. For lunch I eat everything from spaghetti, a subway sandwich, pizza, to mexican (my favorite)! For dinner I finish off with a “Smart Ones” lasagna usually but I also have tried the pot roast and sweet and sour chicken. That leaves me a few points for dessert, which I have really taken to the Weight Watcher Ice Cream Candy Bars. It’s kinda like a dummed down Snickers Ice Cream Bar. Then I usually have a cup of tea or two (I like it black) and then off to bed.
I was really bummed out about the broken leg but the walking on crutches has helped a bit in the exercise department. I have one more week of the crutches and then hopefully the Dr. will say I can just use the walking cast, that would be nice. At any rate so far, I am losing weight at a fairly steady pace. I have about 20 pounds left to go but at least I am a little happier in my skin in the meantime.
I did Weight Watchers a couple of years back and lost 17 pounds. Man that felt great, but I still did not meet my total goal that time. I really plan on taking it all the way this time baby, afterall, I’m only getting older and soon if I don’t get close to the goal now while I am still young enough it will too difficult to maintain it as I get older. Especially if I keep breaking bones! LOL!
In a couple of weeks I know I will get tired of the Smart Ones meals. By then, I hope to lose about 10 more pounds. Then I will just try to monitor my food intake by using the point system on regular foods and recipes that I make. It will also be easier to do this once the leg is healed. So I may actually have a month of Smart Ones. By the end of June I hope to have lost a total of 17 pounds that is my little mini goal. Then after that point I’ll set another goal. If I did lose 17 total by June 30th I would only have 15 pounds to go (maybe a little more depending on what I feel like I look like at that point).
Once the leg is healed and I can really throw the exercise back into it things will start moving along a lot more quickly (I hope). It would be excellent to spend this August at my ideal weight. What a dream come true!

I ride my mountain bike up Westridge Avenue from 19th St. to 27th Street. It’s more of a killer hill than it looks. But the ride back down is all coasting at 90 mph! I do that several times then go chow down a carton of ice cream.
