How I Lost 85 lb. On The Moon Pie Diet
First, a disclaimer: If you are pregnant or have a pre-existing medical condition that would prohibit a high caloric - high sugar content diet, DO NOT attempt this diet without consulting your physician. In all cases, you should always consult your doctor before considering a new diet.
After seeing so many TV commercials and reading so many SPAM emails about “miracle weight loss” schemes, I thought they all sounded pretty much the same and that with the basic knowledge I learned from each of these, I could concoct my own diet plan and be as successful as the men and women in the ads. Now I can say, I was right, and it was of my own doing, not some expensive scam racking up expenses on my credit card.
To begin, I figured the average cost of one of the advertised diets would be $600 after the free trial and additional purchases to reach my goal. I could probably bank a large portion of that by devising a better way. One diet idea that caught my eye involved eating cookies all day. I could do them one better. My idea was something more filling than a cookie, Moon Pies.
To safely lose weight, one should aim for 1.5 lb of weight loss per week [or one to two pounds on average]. My goal was to lose 60 pounds. This would take approx. 30 plus weeks at that rate. The cost of a box of Moon Pies was approx. $5 for a two-day serving [6 per day]. I purchased $450 worth of Moon Pies. This was well under the estimated $600 of the fad diets I have seen advertised.
In week one, I found it easy to add six helpings of Moon Pie to my daily diet. They were convenient and, as I had thought, quite filling. After the fifth Moon Pie you kind of look forward to the end of the day and the final Moon Pie. Like any diet, you may find this difficult to maintain. But you know, what is good for you isn’t always easy.
At the end of week one, I had gained 3 lbs. I think this was an adjustment due to the evening meals, which every good diet will include. I am not used to eating late in the day, so an evening meal probably upset my metabolism. I was eating the right things, a decent helping of meat, vegetables, no salt, no sugar, no creams or sauces added. Plenty of greens, with mostly fish and chicken.
Week two started with a new sense of increased energy, in fact, so much energy that I often got headaches. I figured maybe there was something in the fish, maybe I was suffering from mercury poisoning or something. I decided to cut out the salmon and tuna and stick with the baked chicken. Six Moon Pies each day, I was used to it now, enjoying a large glass of milk with each, getting my vitamin D.
At the end of week two, I had gained another 2 lbs. Silly me! As in all good diet plans, you must include exercise. I renewed my membership at Bridgeport Fitness and now had all my ducks in a row. At the end of week three, I had lost 4 lbs. I was now on the road to reach my goal, now starting just one pound higher, but with a plan in place for success!
I’ll tell you more about how I lost 85 lbs. with the Moon Pie Diet, later right here at THE DEAL IS dot com.
