Keurig Killed Starbucks
I was at Costco the other day and I saw the Keurig coffee machine. I had seen one of these at a girlfriend’s home and thought it was pretty cool. Prior to that I saw one at the salon and didn’t know what it was. Basically this is a single serving coffee maker. You place these specially designed cups called K-cups into the maker and then push a button and “Voila” you have a fresh cup of coffee in your mug.
I go to Starbucks everyday and buy a triple grand white chocolate mocha. Not anymore! Now, I get to work 30 minutes earlier and save myself about 100.00 a month. I even can use my Keurig to make tea at nite while I watch my favorite TV show House.
The K-cups come in like 100 different varieties including teas, coffees and yes hot chocolate. I ordered some tea and hot chocolate for the kids last nite. We can’t wait til it gets here. But you can also use your own coffee grounds or a tea bag in place of the K-cups. The machine is so versatile I don’t know who wouldn’t want one-unless they don’t drink coffee of course.
If you haven’t bought a Keurig you should, it costs about 129.00 at Costco but over the long run if you are going to Starbucks everyday you are spending on avereage $720.00 a year on fancy sugar filled coffee that is guaranteed to pack on the pounds and put a hole in the pocket book. In this tight economy I suggest a Keurig, make your coffe at home with no mess and save your self time and hassle of standing in line at Starbucks. Not to mention trying to order one of those fancy drinks, have you ever noticed that no matter how you order the barista at Starbucks insists upon correcting you? Maybe it’s just me.

I have been using my Keurig for several years. I bought the very first one thhey made for home use (I think it was in 2004?). Anyway, I have gotten good use out of it – that’s for sure! If you order your K-Cups directly from keurig.com you can qualify for discounts and free shipping. I live in Hawaii and they still provide free shipping (believe it or not, this is rare)! I am impressed with the fresh taste of the coffee and the variety of K-Cups is wonderful! There is even a special K-Cup you can buy (and reuse) to fill with your own coffee – so you can STILL have Starbucks!
My coffee now costs under 50 cents per cup and there is no mess to clean up!
