The Same Old Song
I have been going to LA Fitness religiously since joining last month. Once you get into it, it gets into your blood. Not going, causes a little guilt. It’s a good thing.
I usually show up there around the same time on weeknights and various times on the weekend. Without an Ipod, I am victim to the music the staff chooses to play. Unfortunately, that music, modern rock & Rap is not what I groove to.
The other drawback to the LA Fitness playlist is – they play the same set of CDs over & over ad nauseum. The same songs are heard every evening, in pretty much the same order. The staff must believe there is nothing more motivating for a workout than something from the Ting Tings or the Pussycat Dolls.
The gym I worked out at in Phoenix piped in Classic Rock. Led Zeppelin, The Stones, Pink Floyd, that’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout! I spoke to the staff at LA Fitness and got conflicting stories. One of the young girls said they have 50 CDs that rotate, not likely. The other said the music was fed by satellite from LA Fitness corporate, maybe, but if so I can’t believe corporate doesn’t have sense to actually rotate the music, maybe a wider playlist.
I suppose I will have to spring for an Ipod. Because Rihanna and Ne-Yo played constantly could make the terrorists spill their guts, faster than waterboarding would.
