I brought this to the attention of the police sargeant on duty today at the Fircrest, WA. police department, but he did not care to take my word for this. I was not there, my daughter was involved. Being involved in a fender bender is a tense moment, as it is, without further friction from outside sources.

This morning, my daughter’s vehicle was rear-ended in Fircrest. An officer stopped to gather the information. In the course of things, he yelled angrily at my daughter and the man involved to, “SHUT UP. IT’S NO BIG DEAL”

This type of behavior from an officer IS a BIG DEAL. Here is a man, with a
gun, who is supposed to be in & under control.  This officer obviously lost
control.

When I spoke to the sargeant, name unknown, [I detected a Hispanic accent], he argued with me over the validity of the details of the incident. He stated it was hearsay. The only thing I wanted to do was bring this to the attention of someone in authority. It became obvious to me, they just don’t care! From the moment I first spoke to the woman who answered the department’s phone in the morning, the reaction was “No, that doesn’t sound like Officer _____ at all. Couldn’t be him.”

This type of response to that type of behavior is neither proper nor acceptable in light of what happened this morning. It was behavior unbecoming a police officer. Add to that, the attitude of the sargeant taking the complaint and you have — an open letter to the public. A warning, about a little town on the outskirts of Tacoma.

Apparently, Fircrest is not a safe area for the public to be in. There is no guarantee that the safety of the citizens is being cared for by public officials.

Behavior like this, and the lack of proper response by the higher-ups within
the department, breeds corruption. This is something everyone should be
aware of, if driving by or through Fircrest, Washington.
