My boyfriend and I went to dinner and a movie on Friday.  We went to Olive Garden and we saw “Yes Man with Jim Carey.”  He suggested I call ahead and get an average wait time from Olive Garden.  Our general rule of thumb is if it’s going to be more than 15 minutes we go somewhere else.

I called and the guy that answered the line said that they do not give out wait times over the phone.  He said that the reason for it is that the time could change by the time we arrived to the restaurant. Duh! What an idiot! As if I could not figure that out.  Like I think that I am the only person in Tacoma going to Olive Garen. Well I lied to him, I said that I was right outside and before coming in just wanted to know the wait time if there even was any.  He again refused stating the same reason.  I hung up on him.  I was very agitated.

We eat out every weekend and I always call ahead to get a wait time, I have called Outback, Adriatic Grill, Olive Garden, Azteca, and every other major restaurant in Tacoma and they have all always given me a general time.  I am guessing policies have changed recently either due to the holiday season or due to some thug in the neighborhood.

We live in Tacoma and it is filled with people from all walks of life.  Most of which are normal working class people.  Some however; are thugs, that’s right people of the night.  People that have no class, no kooth, and no rules.  Generally not working class. If so, they are angered that they don’t have the life that they wish they did and they take it out on everyone around them instead of doing something to better themselves.

I’m guessing that one of these Tacoma thugs called Olive Garden and asked for the average current wait time and upon arriving was made to wait longer so they threatened to light the place up (with bullets) or beat up the matride.  These people ruin it for the rest of us, they make scenes, are obnoxious in movie theatres, cut in line, and then look at you and ask ‘What you are looking at!”  Most of the time most of us don’t say anything because unlike the thugs we are not “packin” or carrying a concealed weapon.

So even though I couldn’t get my wait time question answered, we decided to go to the restaurant anyway.  We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated.  He ordered the Chicken Alfredo and I ordered Spaghetti with meat sauce.  When the food came my meat sauce smelled like vomit.  I will not be ordering the spaghetti again.  The salad and breadsticks were good as usual.  Service was good. 

Although everything worked out pretty well, Olive Garden has been black listed by me for now.  I’d much rather get take out from Joeseppi’s or Adriatic grill they both have better spaghetti anyway.  

The movie was great!  “Yes Man” is a definate must see.  Jim Carey was funny and he even did some of his crazy faces like he tends to be famous for and they were actually still funny.  I would recommend anyone to see Yes Man it’s a winner-unlike Olive Garden.
