New York’s Governor Patterson, was greatly offended by a skit on last Saturday’s SNL. For those of you that are uninitiated, Saturday Night Live is sketch comedy, parody, satire…HUMOR – Now in it’s 33rd year on the air. Here is the Gov’s response:
“The Governor engages in humor all the time, and he can certainly take a joke. However, this particular Saturday Night Live skit unfortunately chose to ridicule people with physical disabilities and imply that disabled people are incapable of having jobs with serious responsibilities. The Governor is sure that Saturday Night Live, with all of its talent, can find a way to be funny without being offensive. Knowing the Governor, he might even have some suggestions himself.”
Saturday Night Live – the same show that skewered Gerald Ford, George Bush, Brittney Spears, you name the politician, celebrity, gay person, straight person, fat person, skinny person, short person, tall person, black, white, Hispanic…get the point? So, the message is “Yeah, but you can’t make fun of blind people”? Get real, Governor. This just gives SNL more ammunition for future skits about, New York’s goofy, blind Governor. I am surprised he didn’t raise the race card in this complaint. After all, SNL was making fun of a blind, black politician. Oh, my!
