I’ve always been fond of sports cars, back in the days I leaned towards 70s Muscle Cars. I spent most of my teens driving cars that were older then I was. But for me nothing could beat the roar of big block engine while the tires layout bellows of thick white smoke into the atmosphere. These cars were very impressive and some are worth a fortune today, they really can’t compare to the speed and handling of today’s modern day Super Cars. So which are the fastest 5 production cars today?
1. SSC Ultimate Aero: The beast rips from 0-60 in just 2.7 seconds. It sports a Twin Turbo V8 engine that pumps upwards of 1183 hp and will propel this machine to 257+ mph. And unless your a sheik or dot com mogul it’s not very affordable for us average folk. How’s a base price of $654,400 sound. This car edges out our number two on the list.
2. Bugatti Veyron: The Bugatti has been the king in this list for while, and while it’s 0 – 60 times is faster then the SSC 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. Its top speed falls behind the SSC at 253 mph+. But don’t expect the Bugatti to be any cheaper its base price is a hefty $1,444,000.
3. Koenigsegg CCX: The Koenigsegg has been around for awhile and I have always been fan of this car. The look of this automobile is astounding. And it’s no slouch when it comes to putting rubber down on the road. 0-60 in 3.2 secs and the 90 degree 806 hp V8 pushes it to 250+ mph. Base price – $695,000.
4. Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo: The Saleen sports a 750 hp all Aluminum V8 that can push it to 248 mph and 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. It rivals the above Koenigsegg in the quick sprint but the higher ponies under the Koenigsegg hood allows it to run away in the high end. Base price is a small $555,000.
5. McLaren F1: The McLaren F1 is a beautiful automobile with its bat wing style doors and center drive. If your not familiar with the center drive concept this means the driver sits in the middle of the car and two passengers can sit next to and back a length from the driver. Yes it’s a 3 seater!. And other then having two chubby girls in the car weighing it down, this thing fly’s. 0-60 in 3.4 secs, And a BMW S70/2 60 Degree V12 Engine with 627 hp can move it 240 mph+. Base price is $970,000.
