There is an apartment complex in University Place Washington that is near Tacoma called Stone Pointe Apartments.  It’s owned by Holland Residential and boy is it a sad place to call home.  I unfortunately live there and have for about a year and a half.  Since my move in I have had the general run in with the neighbors.  Loud parties late at nite on weekdays, rag tag kids running through the complex, and one day I came home to a Gatorade bottle filled with party urine on my steps leading to my unit.  The most recent complaint however, was loud screaming kids running through the complex, past my apartment to the bus stop around 7:30am.  The complex has a noise ordinance that begins at 8am and goes until 10pm.  These hellion’s run through the complex not only yelling at the top of their lungs, but they also grace us with their musical talents, it’s like a god damn parade some mornings.  I have been awaken to the sound of trombones, trumpets, and clarinets as well as screaming squealers on multiple occasions.  I have two kids myself both very loud and boisterous girls the ages of 9 and 7.  I am no stranger to noise.  However, my kids have the respect and decency to keep quiet during the wee hours of the morn when others are sleeping.

Apparently a talent that the rug-rats running through this complex have failed to be taught by their parents.  I have dealt with this situation for a couple of weeks quietly until one morning last week i had had enough!  I was awaken as per usual 10 minutes prior to my alarm sounding.  This particular morning I figured it was time to say something.  I called the manager’s office and left a complaint message stating the happenings of the morning and my dissatisfaction with the whole ordeal.

Not only did I not get a call back from the office stating their plan of action but it continued to occur.  Two days later I got a notice on my door from the office stating that if I had a problem with the noise in the morning I would need to call the police.  I called the complex to further discuss this.  The phone was answered by “Lynn.”  As I proceeded to explain my frustration I could hear in Lynn’s tone that she was not only taking a cavalier attitude toward it but she almost seemed bothered that I would be calling to discuss this further.  God forbid I attempt to stand up for my right to a peaceful sleep and to inquire what it is that I pay $1115.00 a month for this two bedroom of hell.

After realizing Lynn’s blatant ignorance of the seriousness of the situation I decided to ask for the corporate office to let them know in writing my dissatisfaction with the whole thing.  Lynn happily, condescendingly, and snobbishly advised me that she did not have the address but only the phone number.  I questioned why she would not have the address of the office that cuts her payroll checks and she promptly advised me that and I quote, “Some people don’t memorize such things!”  This was enough for me I could tell that “Lynn” didn’t have the brains God gave a crowbar and that she certainly didn’t deserve the probably $11.00/hr. or less that Holland pays her.  I took the Vancouver Washington phone number that mysteriously began with a 206 (Seattle) area code and left the line with Lynn.  Not before I let her know that I would be contacting her Corporate office to notify them of her behavior.  Lynn responded with, “Please do, let them know I was rude to you, you have been rude to me from the beginning of this conversation.”

I guess that waking up in the morning by the sounds of trumpets and other wind instruments shouldn’t be a problem but it is for me.  I also am starting to believe that people like “Lynn” may get a bonus or some other award for treating their residents like second class citizens or worse.  Perhaps they are given gift certificates to Starbucks or the like. There must some some motivation for being so low class, tacky, and unprofessional.

Now, don’t get me wrong, i don’t think that the management should call out the national guard on these kids however a good portion of them live on premise in my complex as well as the Army, Marines, and half of the Navy.  I just feel that any claim should be at least considered legitimate until found otherwise.  In this case since “Lynn” refused to take me seriously I have no option than to warn the public not to move into Stone Pointe Apartments in University Place Washington.  Not only will you pay premium price for rents, you will be treated like you’re a shoplifter at Wal-Mart

I plan to post to some other major search sites that offer reviews for my complex as well as contact the main office by letter to let them know of my dissatisfaction with the disservice I routinely receive from their staff.

This is not that first run in with the management team, although the previous times were a couple months ago and we had different managers then.  Just to give you a synopsis; it took 1 month to get a broken dryer fixed.  I guess I was crazy and just imagining that it was taking 3 hours to dry a load of towels because every time the maintenance came in while I was at work to fix it they said there was nothing wrong.  There was another situation of a broken shower that after reported to the now manager Edie, went unfixed for one month as well.  I am a patient girl and have 2 bathrooms in the place so I waited.  Upon paying rent the next month I questioned the not yet done repair.  I was told, “Oh sorry, we can have someone there tomorrow, will you be home?”  “Well of course not!” Was my first thought, I mean I have to go to work and actually do my job in order to pay premium rents here to live in a shanty of an apartment complex where you’re awaken by trumpets and the like and forced to share a shower with your other housemates for over a month!

I digress, they scheduled to come in and fix the shower (AGAIN!) but they didn’t have a key because the loser that drilled my locks when they fixed the dryer (because they didn’t have a key and I offered permission to enter when I was away) apparently took the key or lost it.  So I had to offer them my key so they could make a copy so I could get the damn shower fixed!  This place is a joke!  You’d be better off living in your car!
